SPARTANBURG -- Hub City residents no longer have far to travel to appreciate the boxing greats of the Carolinas. After moving from Charlotte, the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame now resides in Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. The venue’s CEO, Roger Newton, said the relocation adds credibility to the area's sports scene. "Boxing in South Carolina has such a rich history," Newton said. SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Spartanburg is stepping into the ring. The Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame is coming to the Upstate, claiming Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium as its new home after spending the past 18 years at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. "Spartanburg probably deserves it more than any other town in North or South Carolina for the number of champions and the number of fighters that have come out of Spartanburg," said Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame secretary Mike Bivens. Fame will be having our event at the Sheraton Hotel, in Charlotte, North
Carolina (Exit 33-- I-85), with the hospitality beginning at 6:00 p.m, and the

Bill Clancy Retiring as Referee to accept a position as the
Boxing Commissioner for Virginia
(MARCH 15) After 41 years and 1,206 fights as a referee, Bill Clancy has retired as the third man in the ring and is the new Regulatory Operations Administrator for the Virginia Professional Boxing, MMA & Wrestling Commission. Bill refereed his final show in Maryland at Live Casino on February 18 and was celebrated for his long service with a standing ovation from the crowd of 3,500. Bill will be moving from his home in North Carolina to Virginia and started his new post on Friday, March 10. Full Story

Dr. Anne Edwards to be honored as a 2022 Boxing Contributor of the year in the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame
(JUNE 22) COLUMBIA, SC--We are proud to announce that we will be honoring Dr. Anne Edwards, MD, as our 2022 Boxing Contributor of the year in the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame at our upcoming Induction Ceremony. She is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, that specializes in cosmetic, plastic & reconstructive surgery in Charleston, South Carolina, and has been in practice over 30 years. Dr. Edwards is a graduated from South Carolina U, College of Medicine in 1986. In 2015, when Dr. Edwards was in attendance at the Hurricane Boxing Show promoted by Mike Golemis, he had a "no show" on the doctor that was to be the attending Ringside physician. Mike went up to Dr. Edwards saying to her, "You are a doctor, can you help me?" She did not hesitate, and volunteered to fill in that night and did a great job. Full Story

(JUNE 21) COLUMBIA, SC--This week we were thrilled to announce that
Representative Joe Wilson, who represents the 2nd District of South
Carolina has been added as one of our sponsors, who supports the Carolinas
Boxing Hall of Fame. Joe Wilson has had a tremendous passion to serve his
country, serving as a member of the United States Armed Forces. After serving in
the United States Army Reserves from 1972-1975, he also served in the South
Carolina Army National Guard. In the summer of 2003, Joe retired as a Colonel,
having served as a Staff Judge Advocate assigned to the 218th Mechanized
Infantry Brigade. At the time, he was the only active Guard member serving in

Coach Dean Huffstickler and Retiree from Law Enforcement to be honored as a 2022 Inductee in the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame
(MAY 18) Coach Dean Huffstickler at the age of 15 years old developed his passion for sports and skills in boxing. In the 1950's he trained with the Rutherfordton Police boxing team coached by the area's legendary Police Officer/Coach Red Bowers. During this time he competed in the AAU Golden Gloves tournaments, with having his most prized trophy in the 1958 GGG Novice weight was won in Gastonia. Huffstickler served four years in the USAF and was honorably discharged in 1962. After returning home he married his wife, Peggy Hill , where they have been married over 56 plus years, having three children, and five grandchildren. They moved to Gastonia in 1964 where he joined the Gastonia Police Department (GPD). Full Story

Brent Elmore to receive Prestigious Floyd Patterson Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022(MAR 29) The Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame is proud to formally announce that Brent Elmore will receive the prestigious Floyd Patterson Lifetime Achievement Award this year in 2022, for his contribution throughout the many years in the sport of boxing. Elmore began his boxing career in his hometown of Sumter, South Carolina. As a junior Olympic Boxer, he won numerous titles, including, The Carolinas Golden Gloves in Charlotte, as well as the AAU Championships in North and South Carolina. Elmore represented the Carolinas in several regional AAU and Junior Olympic events. He was also once named "Outstanding Boxer" in both Charlotte and Highpoint competitions. Full Story
Slammin' Sammy Horne To be inducted into the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame in 2022!
(MARCH 22) The Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame in 2022 has inducted Williamston's Slammin' Sammy Horne among other greats who will be inducted later this year. Horne will be among other greats nominated this year in 2022, that includes Floyd Patterson, James "Bone Crusher" Smith, Olympian Bernard Taylor, Calvin Brock, World Bantamweight holder Kelvin Seabrooks, National Champion Billy Bridges, Pappy Gault, and more in this year's celebration honoring of these top Inductees.
