have been inducted throughout the years of our organization. We are
extremely proud of the following inductees who have played a major part in the
sport of boxing.

SAMUEL HORNE |
Slammin' Sammy Horne was a household name in the
Williamston/Pelzer area in 1978-1979. He was not only an outstanding boxer, but
he was known for his engaging personality and being extremely tough. In his time
of fighting professionally he was featured three times on ESPN.
After high school, Horne began boxing at the age of 19. As an amateur he had a
32-2 record with 24 of those bouts as knockouts. He also won two Golden Glove
Championships, and two AAU Championships, and then shortly thereafter turned

F. MICHAEL CLINE |
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Michael Cline is set to be inducted with the
inducted into the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame in Charlotte, North Carolina,
on July 17, 2020 among other elite inductees. In 1976 Cline became an All-Marine
boxer in 1976 and fought in various district and regional matches throughout his
time in the service. In 1988, he joined the All-Marine coaching staff. Cline won
a bronze medal in the masters division of the Ringside National Tournament in

GERALD SNYDER |
Gerald Snyder, born on April 29, 1961. He boxed professional from 1993-1999.
Gerald "Jay" Snyder fought in the heavyweight division and is from Spartanburg,
South Carolina. ay Snyder, 59, married to Karen Snyder, his high school
sweetheart. They have been married for 39 years, and have two children, Sommer
and Jacob, and daughter-in-law Christie. Jay has one grand daughter, Carsyn
Nicole. He has taught welding for 20 years in the high school
setting. He is a devoted to God Christian.

CHARLES DEAN HUFFSTICKLER |
Coach Dean Huffstickler at the age of 15 years old developed his passion for
sports and skills in boxing. In the 1950's he trained with the Rutherfordton
Police boxing team coached by the area's legendary Police Officer/Coach Red
Bowers. During this time he competed in the AAU Golden Gloves tournaments, with
having his most prized trophy in the 1958 GGG Novice weight was won in Gastonia.
Huffstickler served four years in the USAF and was honorably discharged in 1962.

HENRY THOMAS NIELSON

Henry T. Nielson, presently resides in
Columbia, South Carolina, born in Port Angeles, Washington. In 1955,
Nielsen had his first boxing bout at the age of nine. The first amateur
bout he fought Dexter (Peewee) Coker in Kingstree, South Carolina. Over a
span of 23 years he fought approximately 250-300 amateur bouts. His boxing
career included coaching in Collegiate Boxing, boxing in the International
Boxing League on the Miami Team, and one professional bout, in which was his
last boxing bout when he fought "dancin" Kid Carlos in the Nassau Coliseum in
1978, winning that bout. During Nielson's amateur career, he won numerous
Outstanding Boxer Awards in Charlotte Golden Gloves and Knoxville (Best

BILLY SHARPE
|
Billy Sharpe, posthumous induction, who lost his battle with cancer December 19,
2011, was born on March 2, 1943, in Columbia, South Carolina, and
was the son of the late Rev. James Charles Sharpe and the late Lillie Spradley
Wylie. He served as a Deacon at Hilda First Baptist Church.
Billy also was Secretary of the Hilda Masonic Lodge, a member of Mar Shrine
Temple and Gideon International. He served his country in the United
States Air Force. Sharpe was employed for 33 years as a Ranger with
the South Carolina Forestry Commission. He served 38 years as Chief of the
Hilda Fire Department and during his spare time, he ran and coached the Hilda
Athletic Club. Sharpe was president of the South Carolina USA Boxing
Association for sixteen years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran
and owner of the Hilda Garage.

BRENT ELMORE
2022 Floyd Patterson Lifetime Achievement Award |
Elmore began his boxing career in his hometown of Sumter, South Carolina. As a
junior Olympic Boxer, he won numerous titles, including, The Carolinas Golden
Gloves in Charlotte, as well as the AAU Championships in North and South
Carolina. Elmore represented the Carolinas in several regional AAU and Junior
Olympic events. He was also once named "Outstanding Boxer" in both Charlotte and
Highpoint competitions. In addition, he was a two-time SC Golden
Gloves Champion (1978 &1979) before his 18th birthday. During his nine years of
boxing, Elmore competed in three national tournaments against world-class
competition. He boxed for team USA against Canada, and became the first Sumter
native to fight (and win) and international bout with a victory over
highly-regarded fighter, Leo Blain.

DR. ANNE EDWARD, MD
2022 Carolinas Boxing Contributor of the Year Award |
Dr. Anne Edwards, MD, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, that specializes in cosmetic, plastic & reconstructive surgery
in Charleston, South Carolina, and has been in practice over 30 years.
Dr. Edwards is a graduated from South
Carolina U, College of Medicine in 1986 and specializes in cosmetic, plastic &
reconstructive surgery. She is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the
area.
In 2015, when
Dr. Edwards was in attendance at the Hurricane Boxing Show promoted by Mike
Golemis when he had a no show on the doctor that was to be the attending
Ringside physician. Mike went up to Dr. Edwards saying to her, "You
are a doctor, can you help me?" She did not hesitate, and volunteered to
fill in that night and did a great job.

Our Mission for the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame
The CBHOF seeks to recognize the outstanding athletic achievements/contributions
of the many gifted and dedicated athletes who have participated in the sport,
along with those individuals who have advocated, supported and promoted the
sport of professional and amateur boxing.
