Gerald "Jay" Snyder inducted into the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame in 2022!
 
 


(APR 26)  The Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame in 2022 are happy to announce that Gerald "Jay" Snyder is being inducted this year with the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame.  We will be making an announcement soon with our upcoming Induction Ceremony.   Gerald will join the other greats this year.  To check out the CBHOF 2022 Inductees, go here. 

Jay Snyder, 59, married to Karen Snyder, his high school sweetheart.  They have been married for 39 years, and have two children, Sommer and Jacob, and daughter-in-law Christie.  Jay has one grand daughter, Carsyn Nicole. 

He has taught welding for 20 years in the high school setting.  He is a devoted to God Christian. 

Jay Snyder starting boxing at Head Hunters Boxing Gym, managed by Bill Mitchem.  The gym gave him the name, Jay "Swamp Monster" Snyder.  Jay fought in several Tough Man contests.  One of them being a major contest with big prize money.

Jay then went professional, winning 18 straight fights with 17 knock outs.  Jay then fought on ESPN for the world title.  He won his next fight and got put back in the top 10 in the world.  This earning him another world title shown in Berlin, Germany.  

Then Jay fought in New York City, against David Telesco for the WBC Continental championship.  He then fought former world chhampion Tommy Hearns, Jay dropped Hearns, but came up short. 

Jay Snyder retired with a great career with a record of 19-7.
